Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step for Bluefield State University students seeking financial support. FAFSA determines eligibility for federal grants, work-study opportunities, and student loans, and it also helps the university award state and institutional aid.

Tips when accepting or declining your offered awards:

  • Review all information before accept/modify or decline.
  • If you accept the students loans you must complete the entrance counseling and master promissory note at “https://studentaid.gov” if you are a first time loan borrower at Bluefield State University.
  • Dont’ worry if you make a mistake, we can fix it with an email sent to financialaid@bluefieldstate.edu from your B-State email account. Always include your BSU ID number.

You must begin attendance in all classes equaling the number of semester hours upon which the aid award is based. If you are reported for non-attendance, you may have to repay a portion or all of your financial awards.

If you officially withdraw from the university, institutional refunds will be applied to financial aid accounts first in accordance with federal and institutional policy. You may be required to repay a portion of the balance of a grant depending on the date of withdrawal, or notification of non-attendance.

The deadline to possibly qualify for the WV Higher Education Grant is April 15th, the deadline for the Promise Scholarship is March 1st.

The Deadline for FAFSA is June 30 of each year for the prior academic year Pell grant.

  4. Choose the correct term attending
  5. Review Current Due Net of Authorized Financial Aid and memo aid

  4. Student Requirements will be listed if needed
  5. If the requirement listed is yellow-highlighted, it is required to be turned into Financial Aid.  You may access needed forms at Financial Aid Verification Documents
  6. If the requirement listed is highlighted in Green, it has been accepted in Financial Aid.
