Dante Castrodale Memorial Scholarship
- $3,000 per year
- Open to all high school seniors in McDowell County schools
- Applications are to be turned into the McDowell County school board for committee selection.

- This scholarship is available outside of undergraduate schooling if student graduates early but continues into further schooling. However, the committee will have approve before further assistance is granted.

A.L Harper Foundation
Qualified students must currently be enrolled as a junior on track to graduate from any public or private Historically Black College or University (HBCU) during Fall 2023 or Spring 2024.
This Cohort will require the four (4) students selected to attend six, weekend sessions during June and July 2023 which includes an on-site internship.
Upon successfully completing the cohort, students will be awarded $4,000 in scholarships and a guaranteed position, after graduation, with PSA-Airlines in one of the following cities: Dayton, OH or Charlotte, NC (possibly Washington, DC or Philadelphia, PA).
Please be aware that relocation, if necessary, will be the responsibility of the candidate.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants for the cohort must meet the following criteria:
• Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Be enrolled full-time at any public or private HBCU.
• A Junior on track to graduate Fall 2023 or Spring 2024
• Provide proof of enrollment, GPA and demonstrated, unmet financial need as verified by the college or university.
• Complete two essay questions
To be considered, submit an online application by the March 15, 2023 deadline date.
NOTE: Only the finalists will be contacted for interviews and interviews do not guarantee selection. The four (4) students selected will be announced on our social media platforms by April 30, 2023.
National Association of Black Narcotic Agents (NABNA)
a non-partisan non-profit organization of Federal, State, and Local law enforcement careerists. Annually, NABNA offers Scholarship Award(s) up to $5,000.00 per recipient. These scholarships are sponsored by NABNA and are merit based for students pursuing professional fields of study in Criminal Justice. Applicants must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student who will enroll in the school year 2023-2024 as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior with a major in Criminal Justice. The award may be used at any institution to defray the cost of tuition, fees, supplies or room and board.
The selection will be based on the following criteria:
(1) 300-500 Word Essay on, “How has the recent political climate changed your viewpoint of law enforcement? What do you propose to change the systemic problems on how law enforcement officers view people of color?
(2) Criminal Justice Major
(3) 2.5 minimum grade point average
(4) School and community involvement
(5) Letter of recommendation from the Criminal Justice Department
(6) Full time class standing
