Alzheimer’s Association WV Chapter Executive Director to speak at Bluefield State College, October 25.
Sharon M. Covert, Executive Director/Alzheimer’s Association, WV Chapter, will be the featured speaker at Bluefield State College on October 25. The program, which is open to the public, will begin at 1 pm in the Basic Science Auditorium.
Covert has over 30 years’ experience in public health and chronic disease prevention. Her presentation will cover topics including:
Identifying common triggers for behaviors associated with dementia
Explaining the process for assessing and identifying challenging behaviors
Strategies to address common dementia-related behaviors
Understanding resources available through the Alzheimer’s Association
Originally from McDowell County, the speaker has also served as National Co-Director of the CDC’s Healthy Working Program, Executive Director of the Wellness Council of WV, and she was the founder and first president of the National Association of Wellness Councils. She has been involved in statewide, regional, and national health issues throughout her career.
