34th Annual Klingensmith Cup Golf Tournament Summary
Sixteen teams took part in the 34th annual Klingensmith Cup Golf Tournament at Fincastle Golf Course in Bluefield Virginia, May 17. The yearly gathering raises funds for the Bluefield State College School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Team Lusk, whose members included Anthony Lusk, Lance Morgan, Stevie Steele, and Erick Workman (pictured, left-to-right) won this year’s tournament. Team Haye—comprised of Daniel Haye, Patrick Haye, Dale Wilie, and Pat O’Dell finished the tourney in second place, followed in third place by Team Summit Community Bank of Princeton: Jim Osborne, Dexter Moore, Garry Moore, and Eric Stoval.
The tournament is named in honor of the late David Klingensmith, a registered professional engineer who served as a professor and division chairman at BSC. According to veteran Klingensmith Cup participants, the event evolved from an informal golf outing that several professors held each year on the day before BSC’s commencement.
The four-person “captain’s choice” format allows participants to enjoy golf in a relaxed setting, while renewing old acquaintances and networking with other golfers sharing common interests.
