Dr. Rodney Montague Selected as Bluefield State College’s “Faculty of the Year (2019-2020)” Award Recipient
Bluefield State College faculty member Dr. Rodney Montague, a Professor of History, is the College’s “Faculty of the Year, 2019-2020” award recipient. The Faculty of the Year is selected by the BSC faculty in recognition of the honoree’s contributions to student learning inside and outside the classroom as well as their contributions to academic and community initiatives.
As a member of BSC’s Social Sciences Department since 2013, Dr. Montague has actively engaged students in lessons on History and Race as he has worked to enhance the educational undergraduate experience. Dr. Ted Lewis, Bluefield State’s Provost, presented the award to him on October 23, 2020 at the College.
Upon receiving the award, Dr. Montague said, “Recognition from such an extraordinary faculty as we have here at Bluefield State College is truly an honor. It is my sincerest hope that I will continue to serve and represent my students, peers and the institution as a whole with the same passion, quality, and dedication that has made this school such an excellent institution.”
Dr. Lewis added, “I am proud to award Dr. Montague, Bluefield State’s Faculty of the Year for 2019-2020, as recognized by his peers. Dr. Montague exemplifies all of the qualities of an outstanding faculty member: teaching, scholarship, and service. He is a true asset to our college.”.
