Five BSC Students Earn OSHA-10 Certification
Five Bluefield State College engineering technology students have received Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA-10 certifications. Students Kristen Taylor, Tyler Walker, Kameron Hall, Adam Hammond, and Tanner Ray received the certifications during BSC’s Spring 2020 Semester.
The OSHA-10 certification is part of the OSHA Outreach Training Program, incorporated into the curriculum of the Industrial Safety course taught by BSC Electrical Engineering Technology faculty member Joseph Hazelwood, a certified OSHA 10/30 instructor. “We did this to permit our Engineering Technology students to secure OSHA-10 certification, which is industry-recognized and is also usually required when they enter the workforce,” Hazelwood explained.
The OSHA-10 certification course is an orientation program for occupational safety and health workers. Certification provides important and timely training for careers including project manager, project engineer, construction superintendent, project manager (construction), construction superintendent (commercial), safety manager, and construction project manager.
