Corte Foundation’s $50,000 donation will help make a Campus Residence Hall at Bluefield State a reality
(Bluefield)— The Corte Foundation has announced a $50,000 gift to the Bluefield State College Foundation building fund. Since Bluefield State’s Board of Governors announced a master growth plan that included a new residence hall and an underground parking deck on the Bluefield State Campus, local community leaders and charitable foundations have resoundingly stepped up to help make this multi-million dollar project a reality.
In April, The Hugh Shott Foundation announced a $1.5 million-dollar gift contingent on the Bluefield State College Foundation raising $500,000 in matching funds. This 3 to 1 challenge will raise two-million dollars, an important step toward advancing the project. This recent announcement of $50,000 by the Corte Foundation puts the College within reach of its first major benchmark of $100,000 in commitments and well on track to meet the half million-dollar goal.
“Bluefield State is very grateful for the Corte Foundation’s generosity,” said BSC President Dr. Marsha Krotseng. “The Foundation is well respected for its strong support of educational and community endeavors and will help dramatically transform the college experience for our students through this commitment. We thank the Corte Foundation for making a remarkable difference.”
