Professor Sherri Williams Selected as Bluefield State College’s “Faculty of the Year (2020-2021) Award” Recipient
Bluefield State College faculty member Sherri Williams is the College’s “Faculty of the Year (2020-2021) Award recipient. The “Faculty of the Year” award is selected by BSC faculty and presented to recognize the honoree’s contributions to student learning inside and outside the classroom, as well as their contributions to academic and community initiatives.
As a member of BSC’s School of Nursing and Allied Health since 2002, Professor Williams received the award from Dr. Ted Lewis, Bluefield State College Provost, at the College’s Fall 2021 All College Institute. The award was accompanied by a $1,000 check from the BSC Foundation.
One of Professor Williams’ students commented, “Despite her busy schedule, she always responded in a timely manner. She was by far my favorite teacher this semester.”
“I am humbled and honored to receive the “Faculty of the Year Award,” Williams said. “Being selected by my peers to receive this award is an extraordinary honor,” Williams said. “I am humbled and thankful to be recognized as this year’s recipient.”
“Professor Williams is an outstanding professor and has played a vital role before and during the pandemic as the College developed, implemented, and updated its COVID guidelines,” Dr. Lewis said. “As Director of the BSC Health Clinic, she and the clinic staff continue to serve the Bluefield State College community in very challenging times, having administered over 5,000 COVID-19 tests and more than 400 vaccinations. She is a most deserving recipient of the BSC Faculty of the Year Award.”
