Big Blue Bites Opens, Bringing Hot Meal Service Back to Bluefield State’s Main Campus
Bluefield State University has officially reopened food service on its main campus with the launch of Big Blue Bites, marking a major step forward in enhancing the student experience as enrollment continues to grow.
Operated by Aramark, Big Blue Bites is now open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering convenient, hot meal options during the busiest times of the day for students, faculty, and staff.

The return of food service to the main campus comes at a time of strong enrollment momentum for Bluefield State. The University has seen significant increases in total enrollment and first-time freshmen, reflecting renewed energy and demand for the Bluefield State experience.
While the University’s Medical Education Center features a state-of-the-art dining facility serving residential students, Big Blue Bites restores a long-anticipated and much-needed option for those who spend their days on the main campus.
“This is about meeting our students where they are. As our enrollment grows, so does our responsibility to provide a campus experience that supports student success. The return of food service to the main campus ensures our students have access to convenient, quality meals throughout the day, and that matters more than ever.”
Bluefield State University President Darrin Martin

Located in the Student Center, Big Blue Bites offers a welcoming space for the campus community to gather, refuel, and connect between classes.
The opening represents another step in Bluefield State’s continued investment in student life, aligning with broader efforts to enhance campus amenities, expand housing, and support the full student experience.
