BSC Student-Athlete Desmond Freeman’s Project Success Internship Experience
Desmond Freeman is a young man with a plan. The Bluefield State College is a standout in the classroom and on the basketball court. He was selected as a White House Initiatives’ 2021 HBCU Scholar.
The Greensboro, NC senior, a sports management major at BSC, is also President of the College’s Emerging Leaders Institute. He has been a solid player on the B-State basketball squad, providing senior leadership that has helped the team rebound from a 1-10 start to win nine of its next 13 contests.
Freeman is actively involved in the Ascendium Education/Project Success paid internship program at Bluefield State, serving the office of the College’s Director of Athletics, Derrick Price. “I’ve been coordinating, running, and managing high school basketball events at the Ned Shott Gymnasium on campus,” Freeman said. “I’ve learned quite a bit from Coach Price and the staff in Athletics, ‘real world’ knowledge that will be very helpful as I advance toward my career goals and aspirations.”
