OSHA-10 Certification Training to be Offered at Bluefield State College

                Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA-10 certification training will be offered at Bluefield State College, in a three session course, November 5, November 12, and November 19.  BSC Electrical Engineering Technology faculty member Joseph Hazelwood, a certified OSHA 10/30 instructor, will teach the course, which will be conducted in Dickason Hall, room 209, 5:30 pm-9 pm each session at a cost of $85 per participant.

 

“The OSHA-10 training course teaches recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces,” Hazelwood explained.  He also noted the course will cover information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, attaining and maintaining compliance, and how to file a complaint.

 

“The three-session course will help workers stay up to date with their OSHA safety requirements,” Hazelwood added.  It also includes detailed information on OSHA’s “Focus Four” (Fall Hazards, Caught-In-Between Hazards, Struck-By Hazards and Electrical Hazards).  Another very timely topic covered in the course is OSHA’s COVID-19 safety information as it relates to workplace safety.   “OSHA-10 certification, which is industry recognized and is also required industry and construction workers enter the workforce,” Hazelwood explained.
