Bluefield State College Signs 50th Academic Articulation Agreement With Education Partners
The recently signed articulation agreement in Criminal Justice between Bluefield State College and the McDowell County Career and Technical Center marked a milestone for BSC. The College now has 50 active articulation agreements with regional community colleges and county high school career and technical centers.
“These agreements benefit all parties involved,” noted Dr. Ted Lewis, BSC Provost. “First, they enable students to receive from nine to 15 hours of college credit when they enroll at Bluefield State College. This creates a wonderful momentum point for the students to begin their college experience here.”
The articulation accords also establish and strengthen partnership opportunities among participants. “We are exploring other collaborative arrangements,” Lewis continued. “These include sharing facilities and offering concurrent enrollment for community college students in programs where an articulation agreement exists between their institution and BSC.”
Additionally, BSC is exploring expanding articulation agreements in other academic disciplines. “This process expands access to education—a goal that benefits everyone. Through these articulation agreements, many students who may not have previously thought they could attend college can now bring several hours’ college credit when they enroll at Bluefield State,” he concluded.
