Admitted for Fall Semester

Students admitted for the fall semester participate in Summer Orientation on one of the following days:

  1. Friday, June 3, 2022 (Beckley Campus)
  2. Monday, June 6, 2022
  3. Wednesday, June 15, 2022
  4. Friday, June 17, 2022
  5. Tuesday, June 28, 2022
  6. Friday, July 8, 2022
  7. Monday, July 11, 2022
  8. Thursday, August 4, 2022

You will take care of the business of becoming a member of the Bluefield State community including: learning about academic requirements, meeting with an academic advisor, registering for your fall classes, receiving your Student ID, and learning about your new college.

Beckley Students

If you attend the Beckley campus, and you cannot attend a Summer Freshman Orientation program, you have the option to complete the online program. Once completed, you will be able to register for your fall classes.

Veteran Students

Thank you for your service! We want to make sure that your transition to Bluefield State is as positive and productive as possible, and that all begins with orientation. Please contact Veteran’s Assistance before your first semester starts.

If you will be residing on campus during the semester, be sure to complete the housing application. There are many on and off-campus housing options to suit your needs. For more information visit the Office of Housing & Residence Life website.


Before Arriving

Before Arriving on campus, please make sure you have completed the following:

  • If you were unable to attend one (1) of the eight (8) in-person mandatory freshman orientation programs, you will need to receive permission to complete the online orientation program. Contact the Dean of Students Office for additional information.
  • Submit your required health documents via email or regular mail prior to move-in. For details on the immunization policy, go here.
  • All Freshman Students are required to live in on campus housing. The Residency Requirement policy is located here for your review. Students who meet the exemption standards need to complete the Residency Requirement Exemption web form located on the website. For questions, check with the Office of Housing & Residence Life at (304) 327-4088.
  • Check with the Financial Aid Office to ensure all your paperwork is completed. Contact them at (304) 327-4020.
  • Check with the Business Office to ensure all necessary documents are complete. Contact them at (304) 327-4450.
