Entrepreneurial Trailblazer Fawn Weaver to Deliver BSU’s 2024 Commencement Address
Fawn Weaver, the first non-celebrity Black American woman to found and lead a billion-dollar enterprise, will deliver the Commencement Address at Bluefield State University’s 2024 graduation. BSU’s Commencement Exercises will be held on April 27, 2024, beginning at 10 am at the Brushfork National Guard Armory.
“Bluefield State is honored that Ms. Weaver has agreed to be the University’s Commencement speaker,” BSU Interim President Darrin Martin said. “She has been described as ‘an entrepreneurial powerhouse and a visionary leader.’” Interim President Martin also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Dr. Deirdre Guyton (BSU Vice President of Corporate Development), who contacted Ms. Weaver and cultivated a strong working relationship with the Uncle Nearest, Inc. team and extended the invitation for her to speak at this year’s Commencement.
BSU’s Class of 2024 includes 266 graduates from 16 states, nine international countries, and the first master’s program graduates in BSU’s 129-year history.
Weaver is a New York Times best-selling author and a guest on well-known global shows, including CNBC, Good Morning America, Fox Business, and CBS This Morning. Her remarkable achievements include piloting Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the fastest-growing American whiskey in history.
