BSU Nursing Students and Faculty Participate in 2024 Nurses Day at the Capitol

Bluefield State University nursing students and faculty recently took part in the annual “Nurses Day at the State Capitol.” The University’s nursing students saw how their role as patient advocates extended beyond the hospital’s walls, according to Sandra Wynn, Director of the Associate Degree Nursing program in the College of Health Sciences at BSU.

“Part of our responsibility as nursing faculty is to educate our students about their role in public policy development and their nursing practice,” noted Professor Wynn. “At Nurses Day at the Capitol,” our students shared their opinions on healthcare issues in West Virginia.  Many were surprised to learn that the state legislature decides the roles of the registered nurse in West Virginia in many areas.”
