Bluefield State University's Bachelor of Computer Science with a concentration in Software
Engineering presents the core principles of the science of computing, with emphasis on developing and
managing
software systems. Our various theory and application courses are designed to equip our graduates with the
skills
needed for careers in industry, government, academia, and research. Career opportunities for our graduates
include, but are not limited to, areas in computer programming, software development, computer systems
analysis,
database management, applications development, web development, and information technology (IT).
The program incorporates the criteria of the CAC (Computing Accreditation Commission) of ABET (Accreditation
Board for Engineering and Technology), for Computer Science and similarly named computing programs,
