The Bachelor of Science in Imaging Science – Cardiovascular Sonography Concentration is a 2+2 degree completion program for graduates of Diagnostic Medical Sonography associate programs. The program prepares students for careers in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound while meeting the educational requirements for professional certification through ARDMS or CCI.
The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Imaging Science – Cardiovascular Sonography Concentration is to prepare competent, ethical, and professional cardiovascular sonographers who possess the knowledge, technical skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary to provide high-quality patient care. The program promotes lifelong learning, professional growth, and active participation in advancing cardiovascular ultrasound practice.
To prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for adult cardiac sonography.

The goal of the Bachelor of Science in Imaging Science – Cardiovascular Sonography Concentration Program is to provide the healthcare community with highly qualified cardiovascular sonographers prepared for practice in echocardiography and vascular imaging. Students will complete coursework and clinical experiences in cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, echocardiography principles, vascular sonography, hemodynamics, pathology, and advanced ultrasound applications.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be prepared for employment in cardiovascular ultrasound settings and will meet the educational and clinical requirements necessary to apply for the appropriate ARDMS or CCI credentialing examinations. Graduates will be eligible to pursue certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVT), enhancing their professional opportunities and ability to serve the healthcare community.
