Professor Pitt has worked in higher education for more than 25 years and is passionate about helping students succeed during their transition to college. As a First-Year Experience Instructor and Academic Advisor, he is dedicated to guiding students through their first year by helping them develop effective study habits, strengthen time management skills, and connect with the campus resources that support their academic and personal success. He believes that building strong relationships, supportive communities, and meaningful campus connections creates the foundation for lifelong learning and achievement.

Professor Pitt is actively involved in student life, serving as the advisor for Phi Eta Sigma, the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first-year college students. He also serves as the campus coordinator for the national Safe Zone Project at Bluefield State University and advises the Big Blue Pride student organization. Inspired by his own college experiences, Scott is committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming campus environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

In addition to his work in higher education, Professor Pitt is a professional artist whose work has received regional and international awards and recognition. Outside the classroom, he enjoys creating art, volunteering in his community, traveling, and riding his vintage 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
