Bluefield State University Alumni Association to Host 2026 Homecoming, Oct. 2-3

The Bluefield State University Alumni Association (BSUAA) will welcome students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends back to campus Oct. 2-3 for Homecoming 2026, a weekend built around the theme “No Place Like Home: A Celebration of Legacy, Culture and the People Who Made Bluefield Home.”

Festivities open Friday, Oct. 2, with the BSUAA General Membership and Alumnus Meeting at 11 a.m. in the Private Dining Room of the Othello Harris-Jefferson Student Center. The BSU Athletic Hall of Fame Induction follows at 2:30 p.m. in the student center’s Hebert Gallery, sponsored by the BSU Athletic Department. Tickets for the induction luncheon are $25.

Friday evening continues with Alumni Night at the basketball game, 6 to 8 p.m. in Ned Shott Gymnasium, featuring door prizes and fellowship, followed by a Meet and Greet Game Night from 9 p.m. to midnight in the student center’s Game Room.

Saturday, Oct. 3, begins with Homecoming Tailgating at noon at Bluefield City Park, in front of the tennis courts, ahead of the BSU Homecoming Football Game against Johnson C. Smith University. Kickoff at Mitchell Stadium is set for 1 p.m.

The weekend closes with “A Night on the Hill,” a Sneaker Ball from 9 p.m. to midnight in the Hebert Gallery. Admission is $10; BSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.

“Homecoming is more than a weekend of activities, it is a time for the entire Big Blue family to come together,” said Terry Thompson, national president of the Bluefield State University Alumni Association. “Whether you are a student creating new memories, a faculty or staff member who helps make BSU special every day, or an alumnus returning to the place you once called home, Homecoming belongs to all of us.”
