Dean Shidemantle serves in leadership within the Division of Student Affairs promoting a commitment to student retention, learning and success. Ron directly supervises and has oversight for the numerous departments and programs within Student Affairs including the Office of Student Activities, the Counseling Center, Housing & Residence Life, Student Health Services, the Academic Success Center, Student Conduct, the CARE Team, New Student Orientation, Career Services, the Office of Retention, and Dining Services.
Dean Shidemantle has worked as a student affairs professional for over two decades, and began his educational journey at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science & Master of Arts Degrees. As an active undergraduate member of the Marching Band, Resident Assistant, Fraternity Chapter President, and Student Body President, Ron learned the importance of being involved on campus, prioritizing collaborations, and serving others. He values all interactions with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and institution constituents.
Ron currently serves as President & Chairman of the Theta Xi Educational Foundation of Pittsburgh, and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association. During his time on the hill, Dean Shidemantle has been the recipient of the Outstanding Administrator of the Year Award for his outstanding performance to Bluefield State and commitment to students. Dean Shidemantle is honored to be a member of the Bluefield State University family, and looks forward to meeting you (whether to say "hello" or to assist you throughout your time on the hill) as a member of the Big Blue community of scholars.
