West Virginia Poet Laureate Presents Writers Workshop at BSC

Marc Harshman, West Virginia’s Poet Laureate (2012), presented a writing workshop for College and community on April 17. His visit to BSC coincided with the sixth annual celebration of creative expression, “Agora,” at the College.

 

A poet, storyteller, and author of 11 books for children, he received a Fellowship in Poetry from the West Virginia Arts Commission. He also received the Keats/Kerlan Collection Fellowship from the University of Minnesota for research on Scandinavian myth and folklore.

The writers workshop was a joint activity of Bluefield State College’s Title III Office, Humanities Program, and Office of International Initiatives, as well as Portabella’s I of Bluefield, WV.
