Bluefield State College Installs Seven Mobile Charging Stations

Mobile Charging Stations Available on Campus

During a heavy rain, there are few items more appreciated than an umbrella.  When a smart device’s battery runs low, there’s nothing more timely than a charging station.

With that in mind, Bluefield State College has installed seven mobile charging stations to help students who rely on their devices throughout the day.  The stations are located in the Brown-Gilbert Basic Science Building, Hardway Library, Dickason Hall, Mahood Hall/Cole School of Business, Ned Shott Physical Education Building, and Harris-Jefferson Student Center on the Bluefield campus and in the lobby of the Erma Byrd Higher Education Center in Beaver, WV.

One recent study reported that 81% of students on college campuses use mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.  A primary reason for the increase is the growth of smartphone usage for studying, which now surpasses usage for both tablets and laptops, according to the study.

The charging stations permit students to charge their devices in a timely, convenient manner as they attend class, study, and communicate with their professors and peers.
