(Bluefield)– The Bluefield State College “Furever Friends Rescuing Effort,” working with volunteers from the College, recently collected more than 650 pounds of dog food, cat food, and litter, along with pet toys and treats. All donations collected from the food and supply drive were delivered to ALIVE, Second Chance for Cats, and the Southern West Virginia Animal League to assist in their care for local rescue animals.

Furever Friends also conducted a “Winter Wonderland Raffle Basket.” The gift basket was filled with items donated by local vendors. Shelia Johnson was the raffle basket winner. The initiative raised funds that enabled Furever Friends to help defray the cost of surgery for two local special needs animals, Jeb and Snowball.

In September 2016, Furever Friends took part in the annual “New Leash on Life” Pet Fair, helping to raise nearly $10,000 for community animal rescue efforts.
