BSC hosting Biennial Regional Technology Conference

Institutional administrators, librarians, school media specialists, instructional technology coordinators and other professionals working in the digital age have an opportunity in early April to enhance their digital literacy.

Bluefield State College is hosting its 3rd Biennial Regional Technology Conference April 3, 4, and 5 at the Bluefield State main campus, and the Erma Byrd and New River CTC in Beckley.

This year’s conference will feature keynote speaker Nyarai Tunjera who will present Digital Story Live Stream University of Cape Town, South Africa, on April 3. Other guest speakers include Dr. Anthony Curtis of Radford University, who will present Instructional and Digital Analytics, and Dr. Teresa Yearout of Southwest Virginia Community College, who will speak about Digital Literacy & Web. Other speakers include Dr. Monica Brooks of Marshall University with her presentation Digital Collections and Preservation. Erna Byrd of the New River CTC campus in Beckley will also speak. Dr. David Ayersman of New River Community & Technical College will have the presentation Digital Literacy and Technology.

Featured speakers will include Dr. Marsha Krotseng and her topic, “The Many Facets of Digital Literacy,” and Dr. Tesfay Belay who will discuss Humanities and Digital Literacy and Self-Efficacy’ Dr. Rodney Montague, History; Dr. Bob Riggins, Computer Technology and Robotics; and Dr. James Walters, BioMed Digitial Research.

Programs of interest will include Bluefield State’s international winning Robotic Team and the Nursing Digital Mannequin presentation, according to the seminar’s organizers.
