2019 Inductees into BSC chapter/Pi Gamma Mu

BSC Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, International Honor Society of Social Sciences, Inducts Seven Students

(Bluefield)—Seven students were formally inducted into the Bluefield State College chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society of Social Sciences, during a recent ceremony at the College.  The inductees into the West Virginia Theta Chapter (BSC) of Pi Gamma Mu include: Patricia Bailey, Robert Christian, Jeannie Dalton, Melanie Danielson, Cody Matoushek, Kilie Mullins, and Skylar Pentasuglia.

 

Dr. Amanda Matoushek, Chair of the Social Sciences Department and Associate Professor of Psychology, and Dr. Rodney Montague, Associate Professor of History, are the chapter’s co-advisors.  Mrs. Carolyn Kirby, Director of Student Support Services, served as the program’s guest speaker.  The student inductees were recognized for their academic excellence and commitment to service to others.

The mission of the BSC chapter of Pi Gamma Mu is to establish a cooperative academic community that works toward the advancement of students interested in social science-related disciplines.  Pi Gamma Mu provides recognition for scholastic achievements and offers enrichment opportunities through service projects, publications, recognition medals, and both scholarship and lectureship grants.  Dr. Matoushek stated, “We enjoy advising this honor society as a way to recognize the achievements of our students and to foster interest in research, education, and community outreach through the social sciences.”
