Brady Shrader Receives Brian A. Delp Service Award for 2019

Bluefield State College graduate (Class of 2019) has been named the recipient of the “Brian A. Delp Service Award.”  The Delp Service Award is presented annually to honor a graduating BSC student for exemplary service to community.  The award honors the memory of Brian Aaron Delp, posthumous 2002 BSC graduate, who participated in numerous campus and community service organizations and initiatives during his years as a student at the College.

Shrader, a resident of Iaeger, WV, was a McNair Scholar and Frasure-Singleton Legislative Intern while attending BSC.  He served as Vice President of the BSC Rotaract Club, spearheading an effort that collected hundreds of books that were donated to two Haitian schools that were devastated by a 2010 earthquake and its long term impact on the nation’s residents.  He has also participated in numerous academic conferences, resenting his environmental biology.

Dr. Donald W. Caudill, a former BSC faculty member, endowed the Brian A. Delp Award to honor the memory of Delp, who was his student at Bluefield State College.  “Each year, this award will recognize a Bluefield State College graduating senior who has personified the spirit of service that Brian embodied so very well,” Dr. Caudill noted.
