Annual Modality Program for BSC and SVCC RadTech Students draws large audience

 

The Bluefield State College Radiologic Technology program hosted its annual Modality Day for BSC and Southwest Virginia Community College RadTech students on November 19 on BSC’s campus.  Fifty-six students joined faculty from both programs at the event.  “The information from these speakers correlates with our Radiographic Procedures III and Clinical Internship courses providing information to the students on areas that are additional pathways for their career, noted Melissa BSC RadTech program director.

The topics covered included “Nuclear Medicine,” presented by Leesa Ross from Chattanooga State Community College; “Interventional Radiology,” presented by Randy Shrewsbury and Jackie Azar from Lewis Gale Hospital in Roanoke, VA; “Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI),” presented by Amy Bennett, Clinical Coordinator for BSC Radiologic Technology; “Radiation Therapy,” presented by Brad Williams from the Carl Larson Cancer Center in Beckley, WV; “Computed Tomography (CT),” presented by Donna Corns from Southwest Virginia Community College; and “Mammography,” presented by Mindy Stillwell from Princeton Community Hospital.  Alumni presenters from BSC’s Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology and/or Bachelor of Science in Imaging Science programs included Randy Shrewsbury, Jackie Azar, Amy Bennett, Brad Williams, and Melinda Stillwell.
