56 Students inducted into BSC Chapter of Gamma Beta Phi 

 

 

The Bluefield State College Chapter of Gamma Beta Phi congratulates the 56 studentsrgajtJyu95 who were inducted in the 2020-2021 academic year. They join an expanding wide network of more than 70 chapters across the United States. Gamma Beta Phi has chapters located in universities and community colleges of all types and sizes. Participation in Gamma Beta Phi is a tremendous opportunity to be recognized for your contribution to public outreach and academic achievement.  

The Gamma Beta Phi Society is a national collegiate honor and service organization that focuses on community and educational leadership. Only students with a 3.0 GPA or higher, 12+ college credit hours and are enrolled in a degree seeking program at Bluefield State College, can receive an invitation to join Gamma Beta Phi (GBP). The objectives of GBP are to recognize and encourage in education; to promote the development of leadership ability and character in its members; and to foster, disseminate, and improve education through appropriate service projects. Members of the Gamma Beta Phi Society must adhere to the promotion of scholarship, service, and character. Being a member of GBP not only provides an opportunity to be a volunteer and community leader but also allows the opportunity for growing life-long friendships.  

As members of the BSC Chapter of Gamma Beta Phi, students participate in various service projects in their community and throughout the state. A few of these community service activities GBP members participated in include collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. The chapter sponsored a collection drive of bottled water to help out the city of Gary, WV who was experiencing a water shortage. Gamma members have collected hygiene products, food and other necessities for the Homeless Shelters Project as well as donated items to our collection drive for mothers at home with children in virtual learning. GBP members participated in making holiday cards for the Havens and the VA Hospital residents. Gamma members have also participated in the adopt a grandparent fundraiser and the Kimball Elementary School fundraiser. GBP members have made donations to canned food drives, Kingdom First Mission, Bluefield Union Mission, Wade Center, and local animal shelters. The chapter also walked in small groups for the End Alzheimer’s Walk. Members participated in service projects, individually or in small groups, on National Day of Service for Gamma Beta Phi. As a whole chapter we are honored to have accomplished an array of service projects amidst the coronavirus pandemic when our local communities needed them the most.
