BSC Nursing Alumna Named President of American Nursing Informatics Association
Bluefield State College Nursing alumna Dr. Carolyn Harmon is the 2019 president of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA). ANIA consists of greater than 3200 nurses and other healthcare professionals in informatics practice throughout the nation.
In addition to her professional service, Carolyn has a passion for expanding nursing education through distributed learning, online, and other innovative formats. She is the inaugural chair of BSN nursing at Carolinas College of Health Sciences in Charlotte, North Carolina. In her previous position as director and assistant professor at the University of South Carolina (USC),
Dr. Harmon received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Bluefield State College (1995), doctor in nursing practice with a focus in executive leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2014), and master’s in nursing with a health systems management specialty from Queens University of Charlotte (2003).
