National Voter Registration Act

The Student Life Office works with Verlin T. Moye (1983 BSC Graduate), the County Clerk of Mercer County. Students can, at any time during the year, visit the Student Life Office to register to vote or to change information pertaining to their registration.

The Student Life Office also sponsors several programs before primary and general elections during which they can set up information areas in higher traffic areas on campus and register people at those locations. Registrations are collected and are then sent to the County Clerks Office.

Prior to the primary in 2000, the Student Life Office registered 125 people to vote.

When a student completes an application for Student Support Services, one of the optional questions on the form addresses whether the student has a disability. If the student answers "yes," the student is advised of his/her right to register to vote and provided the appropriate documents. The student is then given the option of completing the form in the office or taking it home to complete. The Student Support Services office has on file the section of the form with the student's decision.
