The purpose of the Flower Fund is to provide a sense of support to BSC classified employees and their families during times of illness or death. We hope that the knowledge of our concern and support will help them through their difficult time.
When a classified employee is in the hospital, flowers are sent to their room on behalf of all classified employees. If a classified employee dies, flowers will be sent to his or her family at the funeral home, Flowers are also sent to the funeral home in the event of a death of an employee's spouse, child or parent. Cards will be sent to the employee in the event of the death of other family members.
We strive to always remember all of our fellow employees during their time of need. If you are aware of any situation where flowers or a card should be sent, please do not assume that we already know, instead notify us immediately. We would rather have several people make us aware of the same situation, than none. The Flower Fund contact persons are Anita Barilla at extension 4117 or Lisa Neel at extension 4038. Be sure you know the name of the hospital or funeral home (and name of the deceased when applicable) when you call.
The fund is supported solely by donations from the classified employees and voluntary contributions from faculty and administration. Occasionally, if funds get low, the Staff Council may need to hold fund-drives to help replenish it. If, at any time, you wish to make a contribution to the fund, make the check payable to Bluefield State College Flower Fund and send it to Anita Barilla or Lisa Neel.
