POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Professor of Communications is a full-time, tenure-track position that will teach lower and upper level courses in communications, promote excellence in teaching, and perform a wide variety of College and community service.

RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to teaching lower and upper level undergraduate courses in communications, this position will serve as academic advisor to students, serve on College and School committees, and work as a team member on undergraduate program development. All faculty positions include a minimum 12 credit teaching load and may include development of web based or interactive video instruction and/or teaching courses online and at off-campus locations.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in Communications or related field by June 1, 2014, and recent, successful college experience teaching communications courses, including speech instruction, required. Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to work collegially with faculty and students. Demonstrated strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence. Demonstrated ability to apply effective learning theories, contemporary teaching philosophies and methods of technology. Demonstrated ability to use clarity of expression in written and oral English. Demonstrated evidence of the potential for excellence in teaching and dedication to College and community service. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of college students and staff. The successful candidate must be able to begin in August 2014.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in theatre instruction, performance studies/arts, and/or theatre production.

COMPENSATION: Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Positions are dependent upon available funding.
