Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan for Bluefield State College:
Now that you're a part of the Bluefield State College family, we are pleased to offer a new Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) underwritten by UnitedHealth Care Insurance Company and serviced by Gallagher Koster. All students enrolled at Bluefield State are eligible for the health plan. Gallagher Koster and The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission were able to negotiate a comprehensive plan at an affordable cost as a way to ensure your well-being. Below are just a few coverage highlights:
- Coverage up to $500,000 per Injury or Sickness.
- $500 deductible for Preferred Providers, $1,000 deductible for Out-of-Network Providers, per Insured Person per Policy Year.
- $5,000 Out-of-Pocket maximum for Preferred Providers, $10,000 Out-of-Pocket maximum for Out-of-Network providers, per Insured Person per Policy Year.

The Health Center is a service provided to the students and employees at BSC through the Student Affairs Office not the School of Nursing and Allied Health.
The focus of care includes health education, health promotion, and care for common health problems, health referral, and first aid for minor injuries. The Center offers physical exams and family planning services. Most services are free to students.
