BSC Jazz Ensemble Winter Concert Set for December 8

The Bluefield State College Jazz Ensemble will present its annual Winter Concert December 8, at 8 p.m. in the Basic Science Auditorium. The event is open to the public, free of charge. The 20-piece ensemble, organized in 1970 by William B. Caruth, Sr. and now directed by his son, William B. Caruth, Jr., is a combination of area musicians dedicated to the performance of the finest jazz arrangements and the traditional "big band" sound. Many of the ensemble's musicians have been with the band for most of its twenty-seven years. They rehearse one night a week throughout the year. The BSC Jazz Ensemble has performed throughout the Virginias and North Carolina, including a performance at the inaugural ball of former Virginia Governor Gerald Baliles.
