Phlebotomy Course Offered at BSC's GCCC During Fall Semester
A seven-hour college credit phlebotomy course will be presented as a continuing education offering at the Greenbrier Community College Center of Bluefield State College during the Fall 1997 Semester. The course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7 p.m.-9:45 p.m.), beginning August 18, at Greenbrier East High School (Room 401). Registration for the course is being conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional information may be obtained by contacting GCCC at (304) 645-3303. Students registering for the course must be a) admitted as a student at the Greenbrier Community College Center of BSC, or b) must register as a "Special Student." Special Student admission forms may be completed at the time of registration. No transcripts of prior academic work are required. The course will involve a study of the intricacies of preforming phlebotomy (blood drawing) in a professional, legal, and ethical manner. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to sit for the national phlebotomy examination with the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT). Course costs include $597 tuition, plus approximately $35 malpractice insurance. Students must also purchase gown(s) and gloves.
