"Gala Auction" on April 3 Brings Bluefield State College and Community Together to Support & Celebrate Academic Opportunity
(Bluefield)—The third annual Bluefield State College “Gala Auction” on Saturday, April 3, 2010 will bring together residents from the local and College community for a night of spirited fun and generous giving. It begins at 7 p.m. at Gary Bowling’s House of Art, 701 Bland Street in Bluefield, West Virginia.
Auction items include getaways from Winterplace and Songer Whitewater, local television and radio advertising, a brand-new saddle, ATV accessories, theatre tickets, home décor, jewelry, collectibles, and much more. Guests will enjoy jazz music by Doc Greenberg’s Patient Jazz Band and catering by The Sugar Shak.
Karen Harvey, Executive Director of the BSC Foundation, has directed organizational efforts for the gala. “Funds raised through the auction will benefit the Bluefield State College Foundation’s unrestricted annual fund,” she observed. “Through this fund, the College can provide emergency loans for students, underwrite employees’ participation in professional workshops, and address emerging opportunities and challenges for which budgeted funds have not been identified.”
“The Gala Auction is a great way to bring community members and BSC together for an evening of fun,” she continued. “At the same time, we are raising funds to help our students, staff and faculty.”
Tickets cost $25 each, and entitle the holder to two beverages and an array of hors d’oeuvre. “We always have a good time at Gary Bowling’s House of Art,” Harvey said.
Individuals and/or organizations interested in securing tickets are encouraged to contact Harvey (304-327-4031) or Lala Wooten (304-327-4235). Tickets will also be available at the door.
