“AGORA—A Celebration of Creative Expression” To Spotlight Area Artists’ Talent, April 23 at BSC (with rules)

(Bluefield)—"AGORA—A Celebration of Creative Expression" that features original creative work of students from area public schools along with Bluefield State College students and employees, will take place on April 23 in the Harris-Jefferson Student Center at BSC from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. A light dinner for attendees will be hosted by BSC's Student Government Association.
Submissions in a wide range of creative genres are being accepted through March 31, according to Dr. Sudhakar Jamkhandi, BSC Professor of English and AGORA coordinator.
"We are encouraging individuals to submit their creative expression from a variety of genres, including poetry, song lyrics, one-act plays, short personal essays, poster art, paintings, music compositions, photography, sculpture, jokes & yarns, short stories, and critical reviews," Dr. Jamkhandi noted. Selected winning entries of songs, poetry, jokes, yarns, and plays will be performed on April 23 in the Student Center. Winning entries of framed photographs, poster art, and painting will be on display in the Hebert Gallery on April 23, as well.
"Selected creative writing and photographs of artistic creations will be compiled for inclusion and publication in the BSC Humanities Department's inaugural online literary magazine, Agora" Dr. Jamkhandi added.
Framed pictures and CDs of music compositions should be sent to Dr. Jamkhandi, Basic Science Building—Room 123, Bluefield State College, 219 Rock St., Bluefield, WV 24701. Written works can be submitted by e-mail to: email@example.com.
