Bluefield State College Model UN Hosts 2013 Model United Nations Conference

model un logoThe Bluefield State College Model United Nations Debate Team hosted the 2013 Model United Nations Conference on the Bluefield campus on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, December 17th and 18th, 2013. With participants from James Monroe High School, Princeton Senior High School, and Richlands Middle School Gifted Program, the Conference had participation from over 34 students, seven supervisors and parent observers, seven members of the BSC Model UN team, as well as three adjunct faculty, two BSC staff professionals, and two additional BSC student volunteers.

After two days of simulated UN committee debates, the following were awarded certificates of merit:

Gray O'Saile from Princeton Senior High School representing Iran was awarded a certificate as Best Caucuser. Also, Thomas Meadows from Princeton Senior High School and representing Iran was awarded with a certificate as Best Caucuser.

Connor Vencill from Richlands Middle School representing Australia received a certificate as Best Delegate. As well, Muhammad H. Durrani from Princeton Senior High School representing Russia received a certificate as Best Delegate.

Bryanna Gwinn, Joe Womack, Callie Davis, Holly Christian, and Makayla Newton from James Monroe High School representing Bahrain received a certificate as Best Delegation. Also, Thomas Meadows, Michael Mills, and Gavin Blankenship from Princeton Senior High School representing Iran received a certificate as Best Delegation.

Bryanna Gwinn, Joe Womack, Callie Davis, Holly Christian, and Makayla Newton from James Monroe High School and representing Bahrain received a certificate for Best Resolution. As well, Antonella Blanco, Sofie Wyatt, and Mary Hammons from James Monroe High School and representing Ireland received a certificate for Best Resolution.

Dylan Vest from Princeton Senior High School and representing Russia received an Honorable Mention certificate. Also, Chloe Meadows, Cody Kaluk, and Mary Hammons from James Monroe High School representing Ireland received an Honorable Mention certificate.

Elle Serreno and Eli Judy from James Monroe High School and representing Egypt received a certificate for Most Improved. Also, Lindsey Hoke, Amanda Pitt, and Karissa Bowden from James Monroe High School and representing Panama received a certificate for Most Improved.
