(Bluefield)—The inaugural "Big Blue Madness" program, featuring an opportunity to meet Bluefield State College's basketball teams, enjoy free food, and more, will be held at Bluefield State College on October 19, beginning at 5 p.m. There is free admission to the event and the public is encouraged to attend.
Recently, The National Collegiate Athletic Association awarded a CHOICES education grant to Bluefield State College to develop an alcohol education campaign led by student athletes and other student leaders for the benefit of all BSC students. Big Blue Madness is a featured event in the College's schedule of activities to promote "Alcohol Choices Education for Students" (ACES).
Dr. Cravor Jones, coordinator of the CHOICES grant, noted that other CHOICES initiatives included special programming during the Bluefield College at BSC basketball doubleheader, November 12. "Funding received from the grant will provide student leadership opportunities as well as collaboration opportunities to BSC departments and will bring an informative and creative alcohol education campaign to all students and the community," Dr. Jones noted.
