(Bluefield)—With the support of two alumni, an Allied Health Scholarship Challenge has been endorsed and authorized by Bluefield State College and the Bluefield State College Foundation, Inc.

A campaign has just been launched to generate funding that would permit the endowment of one nursing scholarship and one radiology scholarship at the College. BSC alumni Betty Kuppusami (nursing) and David Gilmore (radiology) have provided the initial gifts for the creation of the scholarships, and they are working with the BSC Foundation to contact alumni in both programs to join in the initiative.

"Most of us, as students at Bluefield State College, received some form of scholarships that made it possible for us to attend," Kuppusami noted. "The need for scholarships hasn't gone away—it has actually increased, especially in these trying times."

"Your support is critical in providing financial aid for students in these programs," Gilmore added. "Your participation also allows us to seek additional funds from corporations and foundations."

Individuals and organizations wishing to help with the Allied Health Scholarship Challenge are encouraged to contact Betty Carroll, BSC Foundation Director, by phone (304-327-4031) or e-mail (bcarroll@bluefieldstate.edu).
