Dr. Tesfaye Belay, Bluefield State College Associate Professor of Biology, presented a summary of his research involving the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa, during a BSC Faculty Colloquium on February 20. The bacterium is known to survive in the water supply of several space missions, and is one of many potential health threats to space travelers during flights. Dr. Belay also reviewed several BSC student-led biomedical and solar energy research initiatives that have occurred at the College during the past eight years.
