Dr. Howard Wade to Deliver BSC's 2011 Founder's Day Speech

(Bluefield)—Dr. Howard Wade, a career educator and historian, will deliver Bluefield State College's 2011 Founder's Day speech. His presentation will be a highlight of BSC's Founder's Day Luncheon, which begins at noon on Saturday, October 1 in the Harris-Jefferson Student Center cafeteria. His speech will focus upon the events that led to the establishment and early years of the institution that is now Bluefield State College.
Dr. Wade, whose life experiences include work as a coal miner, U.S. Marine, public school teacher, college faculty member, administrator, and author, is an Associate Professor of History and Associate Dean/BSC School of Arts & Sciences. He was the keynote speaker at the 39th annual Kimball High School National Alumni Association (KHSNAA) Reunion in Charleston, WV, and he is a past recipient of the Bluefield State College Student Government Association's "Instructor of the Year" award.

Bluefield State College's 2011 Homecoming celebration begins on Monday, September 26 with an 11:30 a.m. cookout at the Harris-Jefferson Student Center, during which Homecoming candidates will be introduced. A 6 p.m. Homecoming parade and an 8 p.m. bonfire will also be held on that date. Other events and activities will be held throughout the week, with the Homecoming Coronation to be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 30 in the Harris-Jefferson Student Center. A Homecoming Masquerade Ball will follow at the same location.
