(Bluefield)—Bluefield State College educator/administrator Dr. Thomas Blevins has accepted appointment to the Institution Actions Council (IAC) of the Higher Learning Commission/North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Blevins, Dean of the Virtual College & Technology and the School of Education at BSC, will begin his three year term as a member of the First Committee of IAC on September 1, 2011.  First Committee members are the first group to take action on peer review team recommendations resulting from accreditation-related evaluations at institutions of higher education.

He will serve on at least two IAC webinar-based review committees and participate in one-to-two in-person HLC hearings each year.
