Regional Administrator for Los Angeles Child & Family Services to Speak at BSC, April 20

(Bluefield)—Jennifer Lopez, Regional Administrator/Division Chief of the Los Angeles County, California Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), will deliver a program at Bluefield State College on April 20. The presentation, which focuses upon child abuse & neglect, as well as social work stress & burnout, will begin at 1 p.m. in the Tierney Auditorium, Dickason Hall.
Lopez is a 20-year veteran with the Los Angeles County DCFS and became the Division Chief of the DCFS Adoption Family Safe Act Division two years ago. The Division ensures that Federal guidelines for Relative Assessments are completed in a timely manner for the approximately 12,000 children in relative care in Los Angeles County.
She has made presentations to mandated reporters, including but not limited to schools, law enforcement, judges, hospitals, and the community regarding child abuse and mandated reporting laws.
The program is sponsored by the BSC Criminal Justice Club, Student Life, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. It is offered free of charge and is open to the public.
