(Bluefield)—More than 50 Bluefield State College nursing students and faculty participated in an intensive “HIV/AIDS Clinical Training Program” at the College. The program was presented by the WV Local Performance Site of the PA/Mid-Atlantic AIDS Education Center.
Jeannette Southerly, the site coordinator and an HIV educator for the WV Local Performance Site (WV LPS), and Carolyn Kidd, a WV LPS clinical nurse educator, provided the training. “The program provided basic training information on a variety of HIV-related topics,” explained Julie Orr, BSC Assistant Professor of Nursing. “The training is particularly timely for our students because it addresses the often-changing treatments of choice, guidelines, and medications in the HIV/AIDS arena.”
Sponsored by the WVU School of Medicine/Office of Continuing Medical Education, the program is supported by an educational grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration.
