(Bluefield)—Erica Meade, President of the Bluefield State College Student Government Association, has been elected Vice Chair of the State Advisory Council of Students (ACS). The Social Science major resides in Tazewell, VA and is a graduate of Tazewell High School.
Her election marks the third consecutive year that a BSC student has served as either chair or vice chair of the ACS, an organization that includes student representatives from each of West Virginia’s public baccalaureate and community & technical institutions of higher education.
“It is certainly an honor to represent college and university students from throughout the state.” Meade commented. “I look forward to visiting other colleges and learning about students’ needs and concerns. I believe that face-to-face meetings are the most meaningful way to gain insight and perspective, and I’m excited to have the opportunity.” She will work closely with the new ACS chair, Joshua Lawson, from Concord University, throughout the academic year.
At BSC, Meade hopes to expand student participation in all phases of campus life. “Bluefield State College has provided me a chance to gain confidence and grow, personally and professionally, and a big part of that growth has occurred through campus activities,” she said.
She is the daughter of Dr. Tamara Ferguson, BSC Dean/School of Arts & Sciences, and Patrick Meade of Bluefield, Virginia.
