(Bluefield)— The American Association of State Colleges and University (AASCU) elected Dr. Albert Walker, Bluefield State College President, to serve on the Board of Directors. Dr. Walker will serve along with five other chancellors and presidents from state institutions of higher education throughout the country.
The AASCU’s membership consists of more than 430 colleges, universities and systems of public higher education throughout the United States and its territories. The four-fold purpose of the AASCU includes promoting an appreciation and support for public higher education and distinctive contributions of our member colleges and universities, analyzing public policy and to advocate for member institutions and the students they serve, providing policy leadership and program support to strengthen academic quality, promote access and inclusion, and facilitate educational innovation, and creating professional development opportunities for institutional leaders, especially presidents, chancellors and their spouses.
“One of the primary points of emphasis in my presidency is to receive knowledgeable information about diverse and changing external factors that affect the daily operation of Bluefield State College,” Dr. Walker said. “Serving on the AASCU national board and representing over four hundred public higher education institutions will be a valuable experience that will strengthen Bluefield State College.”
