BSC and BC Host Leadership Weekend

The Bluefield State College Campus Life Office and Bluefield College recently served as host sites for "Leadership Weekend 1997," a three-day retreat designed to cultivate and enhance leadership skills among students and staff at participating institutions of higher education.

Mark Smith, founder and president of Piftsburgh-based Penn-Mark Communications, discussed the importance and styles of leadership for college students. Marie Carter, special assistant to State College System Chancellor Dr. Clifford Trump," conducted sessions on "Lead the Leaders" and "Women in Leadership." Kat Stevens, Crisis Coordinator and Student Affairs Counselor at Fairmont State College, reviewed the program "Ethics and Morality in Leadership."

BSC presenters included Dr. Louis Barsi (Vice President of Student Affairs), Betty Fox (1996-97 SGA President), J.D. Carpenter (Director of Campus Life), Pat Wimmer (Program Assistant and Off-Campus Housing Coordinator/Campus Life), and Brianna Plum (Student Program Advisor Greenbrier Community College Center of BSC).
