Spring Courses Offered on Weekends

Bluefield State College is offering nearly 20 spring semester 1997 courses during weekends. The course offerings are timed to accommodate the busy schedules of working adults and are designed for both career enhancement and personal enrichment. three-credit hour photography course, ARTS 307, begins January 18. The studio arts course in photography as an art medium includes instruction and experience in camera use and darkroom procedures. The course will be offered on BSC's Bluefield campus on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

A three-credit hour art history course, ARTS 205, also begins January 18 on BSC's Beckley campus. The course is a survey of the history and development of architecture, sculpture, painting, and the minor arts from prehistoric times to present.

The two-credit hour course Business Leadership Skills Seminar, will be presented on Fridays and Saturdays, beginning January 17-18 on the Bluefield campus of Bluefield State College. The course will be conducted from 4 p.m.-6:50 p.m. Fridays, and from 9 a.m.-3:20 p.m. Saturdays.

A three-credit hour course, Computers & Society (COSC 102) will be presented Fridays and Saturdays, beginning January 17-18 at BSC's Bluefield campus. This course is designed to introduce the student to the use of computers and requires no previous computer experience or technical background. The impact of computers on society will be discussed, along with an overview of the types, classifications, and functions of various computer hardware, software, and peripherals. The hands-on use of microcomputers is stressed, and the ability to use word processing software is emphasized.
