car_gala(Bluefield)—The second annual Bluefield State College Foundation “Gala Auction” on Saturday, April 4, 2009 will bring together residents from the local and College community for a night of spirited fun and generous giving.  It begins at 7 p.m. at Gary Bowling’s House of Art, 701 Bland Street in Bluefield, WV. The BSC Gala Auction is sponsored by BB&T.

Among the items upon which attendees can bid are a Mercedes-Benz automobile, an ATV package, theatre tickets, 2 Winterplace Ski packages, a Greenbrier Resort package, Cole Harley-Davidson apparel, artwork, and more.

Karen Harvey, Director of Institutional Advancement & Planning at BSC, has directed organizational efforts for the gala.  “Funds raised through the auction will benefit Bluefield State College Foundation’s unrestricted annual fund,” she observed.  “Through this fund, the Foundation can provide emergency loans for students, underwrite employees’ participation in professional workshops, and address emerging opportunities and challenges for which budgeted funds have not been identified.”

“The Gala Auction provides a wonderful opportunity for the community and College to interact on an enjoyable, social level,” she continued.  “Bluefield State College is a true community resource and we are very interested in being more actively involved in improving the quality of life for everyone living and working here.”

Tickets cost $25 each, and entitle the holder to “heavy hors d’ouevre” and beverages.  Gary Bowling’s House of Art is a delightful venue, too,” Harvey said.  “Talented local musicians will provide music, and we’re looking forward to a fun-filled, profitable evening.”

Individuals and/or organizations interested in securing tickets are encouraged to contact Harvey (304-327-4031) or Lala Wooten (304-327-4235).
